Sound Communities CIC, Making Waves, Music Up/Ocean Sounds (South West)

Welcome To Torbay is a high energy music video by Oceanside Records, recorded in locations across Torbay. It illustrates what life is like living as a teenager in Torbay and what it’s like to grow up there. The group recorded in locations around their local area that were important to them and where they felt they had ownership to make a ‘point’ to the council and other statutory organisations they felt had let them down.

Gemini Aaliyah – After Hours

Music Leeds, Launchpad (Yorkshire and the Humber)

After Hours is the second single of the year from the prolific young artist Gemini Aaliyah. The lyrics describe Gemini's connection to witchcraft and the magical realm being suppressed. Trapped within an institution, she is told what she sees is an illusion while the music is a blend between bright alt-rock and pulsing synthy hyper pop. She says, “I wrote the lyrics to tell the struggle of a witch girl in a modern world, where people tell you magic is an illusion, a society that views magic as madness.”

Tinzo – Ptown

Romsey Mill, Bassline Sounds (East of England)

Ptown by Tinzo pays homage to Michael Jackson as the song uses a remixed beat of Billie Jean behind Tinzo’s quickfire bars. The music video was shot and edited by Romsey Mill’s Youth Development Worker Dave Read. ‘We tried to recreate aspects from the original Billie Jean video mimicking shots such as walking down the stairs and dancing,’ says Dave. A static camera angle shot was used to create the image of several Tinzo’s, creating an updated impression of an old school era.
